The person and principles behind FamiliaSync

FamiliaSync is a free, offline-first family organizer for iOS and Android - shared calendar, grocery lists, tasks, budgets, meal plans, documents, and an on-device AI assistant. It is designed and built by one person, on a simple conviction: your family's data should live with your family.

Srichaitanya

Founder & developer

Designs, builds, and writes about FamiliaSync - the app, the on-device assistant, and this website.

FamiliaSync started from a frustration most families will recognize: the tools that run a household - the calendar, the grocery list, the budget - quietly became cloud services. Each one wanted an account, a subscription, and a copy of your family's routines on a server somewhere. The product existed to serve the business model, and the family's data was the price of admission.

The alternative wasn't a better privacy policy. It was a different architecture: an app where every feature works offline, where devices sync directly with each other over an encrypted transfer the user initiates, and where even the AI assistant runs on-device. Srichaitanya writes about how it's built - the routing, the encryption, the deliberate trade-offs - on the FamiliaSync blog.

What we believe

Offline-first, always

Every feature works without a connection - including the AI assistant. Offline is the default state, not a degraded fallback you notice only when it fails.

No accounts, ever

There is no sign-up, no password, and no user database. Families share data by pairing devices directly over an encrypted transfer they initiate.

Private by architecture

Data lives in an AES-256-GCM encrypted database on your devices, with secrets in the iOS Keychain and Android Keystore. A promise can be broken; an architecture that holds nothing cannot.

Free forever

No subscription, no ads, no data to monetize. The business model doesn't need your family's information because the product never collects it.

Honest trade-offs

Sync is a deliberate act, there is no web app, and your paired devices are the backup. The costs of the model are stated plainly, not hidden in a feature list.

Where things stand

FamiliaSync is pre-launch and in active development for iOS and Android. The waitlist on the homepage is open - members are notified when the app ships. Progress updates and engineering notes are published on the blog as features land.

If you want to see how the offline-first model compares to the cloud organizers it replaces, the comparison page lays it out side by side - including the trade-offs. For the deeper technical story, read “Private by architecture, not by promise”.
